Rare Nickodell on Melrose Restaurant Los Angeles-Hollywood ASHTRAY -Matches-MENU. Handsome 3 1/4 inch glass ASHTRAY in excellent condition. A real and hard to find full MENU and vibrant green postcard. A wonderful collection at a fair price. So much history it's crazy to try to recount it here.
First let me say that this iconic Hollywood Restaurant is where RICKY RICARDO first met FRED MERTZ. Located off Gower Gulch, near Western Costume, the DesiLu studios, KHJ tv studios (think Engineer Bill,) KCAL studios (think newscaster Jerry Dunphy,) and the famous Paramount Studios, the Nickodell was the hangout for movie actors and film techs and plenty of tv show casts including Bonanza, The Brady Bunch, Gunsmoke, Mod Squad just to name a few. The lunch drinking spot where William Frawley first met with Desi Arnaz to see if he'd fit the part of neighbor, landlord and friend Fred Mertz.
